Document Control Specialist (Food Manufacturing)

About the Role:
We are seeking a Document Control Specialist to manage quality and safety documentation programs, ensuring compliance with government regulations and industry certifications (SQF, OSHA, FSMA, FDA, USDA, etc.). This role is critical in maintaining document accuracy, overseeing change control processes, and supporting compliance efforts across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage document control processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and certification requirements.
Oversee document change requests, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and necessary approvals.
Collaborate with teams across Manufacturing, Distribution, Packaging, Engineering, and other departments to collect and review technical data.
Conduct routine safety and food safety documentation audits to maintain alignment with internal protocols.
Ensure Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) programs meet OSHA, FSMA, and SQF standards.
Pre-approve and route SOPs and Work Instructions (WIs) for signature approval in the electronic Document Management System (DMS).
Maintain audit-ready controlled documents and verify the accuracy of safety and compliance records.
Support leadership in facilitating compliance training programs for employees at all levels.
Develop and administer training programs through ALCHEMY and track personnel training compliance.
Assist with internal audits and self-inspections to ensure corrective actions are effective.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Ideal Candidate:
Certified SQF Practitioner, HACCP, and FSMA-PCQI preferred.
Strong knowledge of FDA and state regulations related to food or pet food storage, handling, and distribution.
Experience conducting internal audits and managing document control processes.
Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
Excellent organizational, communication, and recordkeeping skills.
