Delaware County Community College Staff Accountant in Media, Pennsylvania

Delaware County Community College (DCCC), located outside of the Philadelphia Metro area, is looking for a talented and dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team of higher education professionals who are committed to student success. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Finance, the Staff Accountant ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records and supports the financial operations and accounting activities of the College.

· Tracks and records financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries and payroll.

· Maintains, updates, and balances the general ledger with records and financial information.

· Reconciles bank statements and posts journal entries to reconcile accounts.

· Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures regarding financial transactions.

· Assists with gathering information and preparing tax documents.

· Generates regular financial reports for management and stakeholders; prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual budget to actuals reports.

· Supports the budget process by tracking expenses against budget allocations.

· Ensures compliance with College policies and procedures regarding financial transactions and internal controls.

· Supports external auditors by providing necessary documentation and information.

· Supports Senior Accountant with research and projects.

· Participate in interactive, on-site meetings during normal business hours and on a regular basis, regular on-site Finance Department office hours.

· Maintain regular attendance per established work schedule.

· Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must be an engaging, effective, innovative, dynamic team player who fosters collaboration. This individual will be able to demonstrate the use of best practice strategies associated with all aspect of accounting practices and compliance. This individual will demonstrate a spirit of an independent problem-solver with the analytic ability to elicit, organize and translate data as well as a strong understanding of the College's mission and goals. The Staff Accountant will demonstrate a high level of confidentiality, integrity and professionalism when dealing with sensitive financial information as well as prioritize and meet deadlines under strict constraints. The Staff Accountant will also have a demonstrated ability to encourage, model, embrace, and incorporate diverse thought and perspective of all individuals of various backgrounds, ideas, and perspectives to foster an all-inclusive environment and drive results.

 

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of three-plus (3+) years of accounting related activities in a professional setting, higher education, non-profit, or public accounting preferred. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or Finance or a related field of study is required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Master's degree preferred.
