Actalent Test Technician in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania

Job Title: Test Technician (R&D)

Job Description:

As a Test Technician, you will be a crucial part of our Test & Development group, engaged in quality assurance for prototype vehicles and components. This role involves 'hands-on' testing of heavy equipment, specifically scissor lifts and similar construction machinery. You will spend roughly 70% of your day testing hydraulics and electronics, tackling a variety of tasks as allocated by management. Under the supervision of Test Engineers, you will install instrumentation, operate test machines, communicate machine issues, support process improvement activities, perform system tests, troubleshoot, conduct basic failure analysis, fabricate test fixtures, and work routinely with a data acquisition system.

Under the supervision of Test Engineer, individual will perform the following tasks to verify performance and validate the machine and components to Internal Standard Test Procedures and External Standards:

  • Install various types of Instrumentation (pressure ports, temperatures, displacements, speed etc) as well as the data acquisition system (Somat eDAQ)

  • Operate test machines in accordance with Internal Standard Test Procedures and External Standards. (Will not be driving anything off site)

  • Communicate and record any machine issues encountered during build.

  • Support the Test and Development process improvement activities.

  • Perform tests of systems and components to assure proper. The focus is on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems aside from the internal components of the power unit (motor)

  • Troubleshooting systems, perform basic failure analysis, and follow detailed test procedures

  • Will fabricate test fixtures, including establishing appropriate instrumentation, test sequence and procedures.

  • Will routinely work with a data acquisition system (EDAQ system)

Qualifications

  • Can be entry-level, but need to have proven mechanical aptitude and interest in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems troubleshooting

  • Mechanical experience combined with modern troubleshooting/diagnostics systems may be sufficient (i.e. diesel, automotive, heavy equipment mechanic or similar)

  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics

  • Proven ability to use MS Office and write documentation

  • Need to be professional

  • Must have a GED or High School Diploma

  • Okay with heights as they will be going up in lifts to test

Work Site:

This is a fully on-site position in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania.

Work Environment:

This position operates on a flexible schedule from Monday to Friday, with some weekend work required on a 15-week rotation. Most work is conducted outdoors in various weather conditions, and appropriate clothing and protective gear are provided, except for steel-toed shoes which are to be purchased by the employee. The team comprises 20-25 members and the role has a learning curve of 6-12 months
