Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 Special Education Instructor - Life Skills in Mar Lin, Pennsylvania

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited training program with a major in special education.
  • A valid certificate to teach Special Education in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Any alternative to the above as the Intermediate Unit Board of Directors may find appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate data collection and documentation so as to fully evaluate and substantiate program and pupil progress.
  • Comply with federal, state and local laws, standards, regulations and policies pertaining to the exceptional student.
  • Prepare weekly schedules of instructional activities that comply with negotiated teacher contracts.
  • Participate in all planning sessions necessary for effective programming and material selection for the transitional program.
  • Comply with all policies set forth by school districts and Intermediate Unit pertaining to program operation.
  • Participate in parent conferences required to prepare IEP's, attend the Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings as necessary as directed by the administration.
  • Be responsible for preparing requisitions and inventories required for selecting and maintaining instructional equipment and materials.
  • Maintain a continuing self-educational program designed to become acquainted with research, practices and procedures so as to maintain the best instructional program for the students.
  • Adapt classroom materials when required to meet the needs of the students.
  • All other duties as discussed with and assigned by the Director of Special Education and/or their designee
  • Collaborate and communicate with parents and staff in reference to the individualist education program plan.

Terms of Employment:

Ten (10) month year. Salary and work year established by a negotiated agreement between the Intermediate Unit Board of Directors and the Teachers' Bargaining Unit.
