JetBlue Airways Manager Human Factors in Long Island City, New York

JetBlue Airways Corporation: Manager Human Factors - Long Island City, NYDUTIES:•Design, implement and management of the FRMS for the JetBlue Flight and Inflight Crewmember operations under FAR 117, to provide JetBlue with operational flexibility and cost savings•Ensure integration of the JetBlue Fatigue Risk Management Program, into the agreements with the Airline Pilots Association (ALPA) and or other work group representation as needed•Develop and implement risk management and safety assurance processes for fatigue•Engage Crew Services, Planning and Scheduling for improved scheduling practices, flight pairing changes and fatigue modeling introduction•Design fatigue education and training modules and company fatigue communication and promotion platform•Serve as Subject Matter Expert for process improvement the continued implementation of Federal Aviation Regulation FAR 117 Flight crew member Duty and Rest Requirements at JetBlue•Manage the analysis, investigation, documentation, trending and monitoring of the JetBlue FRMS Administer the Fatigue Review Board (FRB) and any associated Fatigue Event Review Committee (FERC) actions•Manage relationships with representatives from operational departments, Union and/or Values Committees and the FAA regarding the development and administration of the JetBlue FRMS•Assists the Director, Operational Safety & SMS in development and implementation of an FRMS in accordance with the guidance contained in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory•Circular (AC) 120-103, as amended•Reviews and tracks fatigue related corrective actions from the FRB and any associated FERC as necessary•Influence, design and lead the development of a Human Factors (HF) capability that works towards identifying, assessing and controlling operational safety risks. •Apply human factors and psychological principles to operational airline functions in order to reduce the likelihood of human error. •Support and direct post-event follow up and investigations by developing and applying HF subject matter expertise through a scientifically-driven methodology. •Lead innovative improvement and application of HF-specific event classification systems and processes•Assist the Director, Operational Safety & SMS in development and implementation of an HF framework in accordance with the guidance contained in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and Advisory Circulars. •Coordinate and provide HF analysis and guidance for risk assessments, business and procedural changes, design and procurement of equipment, and operational communications to staff•Determine methods for collecting and analyzing safety data to identify human error •Partner with department leadership and team members to facilitate the application of corrective actions to mitigate human performance-related risks•Lead the development, delivery and maintenance of human factors-specific training content to ensure Crewmembers possess the competencies appropriate with their role in JetBlue’s SMS, including designing Flight Crew simulator exercises (e.g. LOFT) to include NTS elements•Provide Just Culture subject matter expertise to the investigation process•Provide safety data input to various other work streams and processes including safety review boards•Oversee the preparation of safety reports or studies for all levels in the organization that include the facts, analysis, conclusions, findings and recommendations associated with human factors specialist topics. •Research established and emerging HF topics to ensure strong subject matter expertise is brought into airline operations. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Aviation Management or in a closely related field and ten (10) years of aviation industry experience in a role with demonstrated applied Human Factors expertise.Must also have experience with the following:•2 years of experience with fatigue risk management•Any amount of experience in the application of fatigue and fatigue management principles •Any amount of experience in the application of Human Factors principles in accident/safety event investigation •Any amount of experience with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Outlook)•Demonstrated knowledge of regulations and standards governing commercial aviation (ICAO, FAA, NTSB, IOSA) and those governing aviation safety, security, environmental, and employee health and safety•Demonstrated knowledge of both FAA and international aviation regulations, as well as with guidance material relating to Human Factors topicsMust pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test.Knowledge may be demonstrated by education, training, and/or experience.At least two days remote per week permitted with manager approval.
