Position Summary:

The MedInsight Client Success team is looking for a Solution Architect (Cloud Engineer) to support a variety of healthcare related digital transformation projects. This professional will be a trusted advisor to both clients and peers in MedInsight as we assist our clients in their migration from an on-premise to a cloud native version of our software. This individual will also develop cloud native solutions for our clients to further enrich their use of MedInsight within their organization. The successful candidate will have strong analytic, technical, and communication skills, and the ability to partner in the delivery of business value to diverse organizations, manage multiple simultaneous projects and innovate solutions that leverage a cloud-first environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be comfortable presenting and discussing ideas with senior leaders of client organizations and Milliman MedInsight.
  • Understand client business goals and strategic context, and harvest requirements from client organizations.
  • Listen to, understand, and break client questions down into manageable tasks.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks, i.e., plan, organize, delegate, problem solve, and meet established deadlines.
  • Use a variety of proprietary products and technologies to answer simple and complex client questions.
  • Turn data results into client-facing deliverables that are informative and easy-to-use.
  • Standardize ad hoc processes and drive continuous improvement for automating and optimizing performance of ongoing processes.
  • Ensure clear and comprehensive documentation of analytic methodologies and new technical approaches.
  • Represent MedInsight at client meetings and trainings.

Travel Responsibilities:

  • Up to 10% nationwide when safe to do so.

Basic Qualifications:

Target of 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience. Preference will be given to candidates with healthcare data experience and cloud solutions experience. Previous experience working with large healthcare claims and/or EHR databases preferred.

  • Working knowledge of healthcare concepts and data structures.
  • Familiarity with healthcare claims data and data analytic platforms.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with little supervision and work under time pressure.
  • Client consulting experience.

Technical:

  • Programming/development experience with Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Python.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Spark, SQL, Python, R, C#) preferred.
  • Understanding of PowerBI semantic models.
  • Experience in managing or guiding organizations' transitions from on-premise to cloud resources.
  • Data warehousing and/or large IT project experience.
  • Experience working with large data sets.
  • Healthcare informatics, analytics, and reporting knowledge.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in statistics, mathematics, computer science, information systems, finance, economics, engineering, or related fields.

Desired Experience and Traits:

  • Experience working with relational and big data database technologies (Databricks, Microsoft Azure). Experience collapsing, joining, merging data sets.
  • Hands-on experience in creating microservices architecture and cloud-native applications.
  • Hands-on experience in Agile design and implementation approaches.
  • Experience in reducing costs and improving efficiencies in data analytics.
  • Healthcare claims analysis experience a plus.
  • Ability to translate complex healthcare data questions from clients or account managers into manageable tasks.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and adaptable - adept at planning and execution, capable of prioritizing and accomplishing goals across a spectrum of concurrent tasks for varying stakeholders.
  • Consultative and confident approach: Critical thinker, able to effectively comprehend complex business issues and develop solutions and communications that work for varying stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented: Recognizes that the small things make all the difference and pays attention to everything.
  • Collaborative: Demonstrated ability to work with engineering and analytics teams to discuss technical concepts, make tradeoffs and evaluate new ideas.

The Milliman MedInsight group has been rapidly growing within different segments of the healthcare field, with presence amongst payers, employers, providers, accountable care organizations, pharmacy benefit managers, digital health companies, and other types of organizations. Successful candidates will support a variety of custom analytic client engagements and will also have opportunities to develop within their position and grow within the larger team.

Compensation and Location:

The salary range is $85,000 to $194,000, depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc. If overall experience is less than 5 years, the range would be $85,000 to $173,000; and for experience of greater than 5 years, the range would be $96,000 to $194,000. This is a remote position.
