CPS Electrical Assembler in Lehighton, Pennsylvania

*What is the Role:  *This is a hybrid role that will be integral to our manufacturing process at our Bangor, Pa facility.  This position will have responsibilities that overlap Control Panel and Mechanical Assembly departments with an opportunity to gain exposure to many different manufacturing activities/processes (Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Fabrication, Weld, Machine, Assembly, and Panel Shops all in one facility!)

In This Role You Will:

  • Assemble electrical or electronic systems and support structures. Position, align, and install subassemblies, wiring, and components such as transformers, inverters, PLCs, and relays on enclosures and sub panes according to layout and wiring diagrams.
  • Drill and tap, crimp, stake, screw, bolt, rivet, solder, press fit, stud weld, or perform similar operations to join or secure parts, mount control units, and provide openings for elements, wiring, and instruments using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Route, secure, interconnect and terminate wiring of equipment mounted devices to control and remote enclosures.
  • Inspect and test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in wiring installations.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical components to correct defects.
  • Use testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance and perform electrical repairs as necessary.
  • Participate in Mechanical Assembly department tasks as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of labor hours and materials used.
  • Assist engineering with the determination of type and sizing of appropriate raceways and/or cable carrying systems.
  • Assist engineering by making recommendations for design considerations as it pertains to equipment configuration.
  • Maintain floor stock requirements and submit purchase requisitions for materials that are required.
  • Provide feedback to engineering departments by documenting changes to drawings/schematics.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.

What You Bring:

  • Entry Level/Apprentice electrical technician background with formal military or civilian electronics training. (I.e., Coursework in Electrical Communications, Weapons Systems, Electromechanical Technology, or Electrical Technology)
  • Minimum 2-4 years' experience in the electrical field in a custom and/or original equipment manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Must possess a strong electrical and mechanical skill set.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, drills, taps, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.
  • Must be willing to bring your own basic hand tools.
  • Must have sub-panel and enclosure layout skills.
  • Working knowledge of 120, 240, 480VAC as well as 24VDC control systems.
  • Working knowledge of NEC and UL 508a wiring practices .
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and a desire to produce quality work.
  • A self-propelled attitude that embraces responsibility.
  • Working exposure to motors, sensors, and switches routinely used on utomated equipment.
