Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union Commercial Credit Analyst in Kingston, New York

We are seeking a full-time Credit Analyst to underwrite loan requests while adhering to established credit union policies and conform to regulatory statutes. The ideal candidate will have the ability to balance outstanding member service with evaluating credit risk for the credit union and structure the deal accordingly. This position requires being on-site. Responsibilities will include: Reviewing business loan applications and supporting financial statements to determine the borrowing capacity, capitalization and cash flow dynamics for the applicant as well as use analytical software to evaluate loan requests; perform the initial analysis required to complete all data fields, interpret the results, including any externally derived credit scores, and determine the need for further investigation or analysis. Spread financial statements, calculating certain ratios, including measures of liquidity, leverage and cash flow, and submit the request to the appropriate approval channel.Preparing the credit memorandum, as well as any other reports necessary, along with the appropriate recommendation for review by the appropriate loan committee. Attending Credit Loan Committee meetings, presenting summary information and participating in discussions on other loans being considered.Performing annual reviews on the commercial loan portfolio pursuant to the credit union guidelines and assisting in the servicing of existing MBL relationships as needed and gathering data to maintain various portfolio monitoring and control reports.Performance Measurements include:Assuring member service is top priority including treating members and other employees professionally with courtesy and respect and upholds the MHV Service Standards.Possesses a broad knowledge of commercial lending and commercial banking laws, with the aptitude to assimilate NCUA member business loan regulations and the Credit Union's Member Business Loan Policies and Procedures.Having strong analytical skills and ability to make sound judgments. Keeps management informed regarding key operational issues affecting the department.Maintaining strong credit underwriting skills, including business and individual financial statement analysis with special focus on liquidity, leverage, cash flow and risk grading.Having a thorough knowledge of the job; rarely need to ask questions. Staying abreast of current trends affecting the financial services industry; has an overall knowledge of the credit union, its policies and procedures and continually expanding knowledge and developing skills.Being aware of departmental goals and deadline requirements and attains as required.Acting as a good team player; makes recommendations for operational improvements; participates in credit union sponsored community activities or charitable fundraising events.Knowledge and Skills:Three to five years of similar or related experience.A bachelor's degree, or achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.Strong analytical skills, the ability to make sound judgments, strong time management, and the ability to manage multiple workloads with successful results. As well as the ability to work independently, with good organizational skills, and excellent written communication skills, listening skills. This also includes problem analysis, problem resolution, interpersonal skills and proficiency; computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office)Candidates must be able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. A normal range of vision and hearing abilities required. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.Working ConditionsMust be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.Candidates must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team and being able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. They also must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics as well as speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.Candidates must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate the highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Being able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace is crucial to this role, as well as being able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities and being capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.Work is generally performed within an office environment, primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
