Cummins Inc. Diesel Technician - Night Shift 3:30PM-12AM in Kearny, New Jersey
DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in Kearny, NJ.
In this role will make an impact in the following ways:
Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
Maintain own tools
RESPONSIBILITIES
In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:
Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics
Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality
Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources.
Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level.
Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts.
Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Minimal level of work shop experience required
Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
QUALIFICATIONS
-Perform minor to complex repairs in a timely manner across different engine platforms installed in various vehicles and equipment.
-Ensure repairs are completed according to published service manuals to ensure a high-quality repair is delivered to the customer.
-Produce, keep, and maintain detailed service records including but not limited to: engine control module images, datalogs, and notes.
-Work in a dynamic, fast paced Union shop environment reporting to shop Foreman or Supervisor.
-Participate in all aspects of both the site and larger Cummins goal trees for each calendar year.
-Complete all assigned training both in person and virtual.
-Significant relevant industry or Cummins specific knowledge will be required for this role.
-Cummins Technician Apprentice Program graduates or reputable technical school graduates preferred.
-This role will be for the night shift starting at 3:30PM and ending at 12:00AM.
A current valid license is required for this role
This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
3 years driving experience
This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
