Aston Carter Senior Accountant in Jersey City, New Jersey

Senior AccountantOverview:

Aston Carter's client is seeking a Senior Accountant to ensure efficient and accurate execution of all general accounting functions. It is the Senior Accountant's responsibility to ensure timely and accurate monthly financial closings while assisting the Controller in assuring compliance with internal controls and procedures throughout the company; safeguard the company's assets and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and other issues to ensure financials are compliant with GAAP and company accounting policies

  • Monthly financial statement close work completed in accordance with closing schedule including and not limited to journal entry preparation and review, account analysis, maintenance of various schedules, and Balance Sheet reconciliations

  • Responsible for the transmission of daily and weekly banking files as part of the day-to-day treasury functions (initiating wires/ACH's, transmission of banking files, and approving Positive Pay)

  • Assist with annual audit preparations as well as regulatory reporting

  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance

  • Management of all fixed asset accounting activities including the processing of all accounting entries associated with acquisition, capitalization, disposal, impairment, and depreciation of fixed assets

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of accounting system, processes, and procedures

  • Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 5+ years of accounting and/or finance experience

  • Strong analytical and accounting skills

  • Highly detail-orientated and organized

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team

  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and similar programs

  • SAI scale software experience preferred but not mandatory

  • Microsoft Dynamics Business Central experience preferred but not mandatory

  • Experience managing and accounting for Fixed Assets

  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to take on new tasks with high level of difficulty

  • Effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment

Work Environment:

The work environment includes a flexible schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home, with consistent days decided in advance. The hours are 9 hours per day with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. Start times are flexible, ranging from as early as 4 AM to as late as 9 AM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
