JPMorgan Chase Lead Data Engineer - Database Administrator in Jersey City, New Jersey

As a Lead Data Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate and Investment Bank's Trust & Safety group, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver data collection, storage, access, and analytics solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for maintaining critical data pipelines and architectures across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Generates data models for their team using firmwide tooling, linear algebra, statistics, and geometrical algorithms

  • Delivers data collection, storage, access, and analytics data platform solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable way

  • Implements database back-up, recovery, and archiving strategy

  • Evaluates and reports on access control processes to determine effectiveness of data asset security with minimal supervision

  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

  • Designs database systems and management tools.

  • Installs, updates, and maintains databases used by the application.

  • Assesses database performance / resiliency / availability / scalability by developing protocols to measure results and identify problem areas.

  • Supports database performance / resiliency / availability / scalability by monitoring, evaluating, and resolving processing and programming problems.

  • Secures database by preparing access and control policies and procedures and implementing disaster recovery procedures.

  • Supports application design by contributing expertise on database technologies to the development teams.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on data engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience in database administration & database architecture

  • Experience in relational / no-sql data modeling

  • Working experience with both relational and NoSQL databases

  • Experience and proficiency across the data lifecycle

  • Experience with database back-up, recovery, and archiving strategy

  • Proficient knowledge of linear algebra, statistics, and geometrical algorithms

  • Primary Database(s) - Oracle , Cassandra , Secondary Database - AWS Dynamo DB

  • Relational & No-SQL data modeling

  • Advanced knowledge of database security, performance standards, and backup and recovery

  • Advanced knowledge of data replication

  • AWS Database Specialty Certified preferred but not mandatory

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • A bachelor's degree in business, computer science or a related field

  • Experience with data replication technologies

  • Cassandra Certification Preferred
