Join Our Team as a Part-Time Phlebotomist at UPMC Chautauqua!

This position features variable evening and night shifts, Monday through Friday, primarily between 5 PM and 5:30 AM, with alternating weekends and rotating holidays required.
As a Phlebotomist, you will play a crucial role in collecting and processing specimens essential for diagnosing and treating patients. Phlebotomy experience and training are preferred, along with medical terminology knowledge, patient care experience, and strong customer service skills. Responsibilities:
Interact with laboratory customers professionally and respond to inquiries promptly.
Follow proper patient identification procedures and collect blood specimens via venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick.
Instruct patients on specimen collection procedures when self-collection is required.
Demonstrate reliability, independent judgment, and the ability to prioritize department needs.
Collect and transport specimens from on- and off-site locations while following safety protocols.
Adhere to all laboratory and hospital policies, including quality control, safety, and compliance guidelines.
Perform clerical duties, enter patient data accurately, and manage test orders in the information system.
Train and orient new employees, students, and residents as assigned.
Report unusual or problematic incidents to technical staff, supervisors, or pathologists.
Monitor and maintain supplies, ensuring cost-effective use of materials and reagents.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program.
Minimum 6 months experience performing phlebotomy.
Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience.
Customer service skills/experience.
Patient care experience.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
