Title:Business Development Specialist

Immediate Supervisor:Economic Development Coordinator

Basic Function or Position Summary:

Responsible for working with existing and prospective small businesses for start-up and/or expansion, lending and general technical assistance. Promoting & processing applications for the Home Appliance Loan Program (HALP) to low- to moderate income individuals within the community. Assisting with the underwriting, development, and maintenance of loans.Hours per week 35 Monday - Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Salary $17.65 - $18.65/hourly

Security Clearance:CAPTAIN Security Access Level 3, V, R

Requirements

Position Responsibilities and Specific Duties:

• Lead workshops and seminars associated with small business development and/or expansion, such as the Small Business Essentials Class

• Facilitates progression of Customer Economic self-sufficiency

• Process loan applications and facilitate the approval process through the underwriting, closing and maintenance of loans on the Down Home Solutions platform.

• Assists in developing and implementing Small Business Development and entrepreneurialism

• Offer technical assistance to small business and microenterprises in service area.

• Recruit loan applicants for the micro-enterprise loan fund and prepare documentation of loan requests for committee

• Recruit and assist applicants in the administration of grant programs offered through CODI

• Assists in the collection and/or repossession of delinquent accounts

• Reporting and data analysis as needed

• Maintain positive working relationship with other economic development entities, service agencies

• Assist supervisor in resource development and community building

• Promotes agency mission

• Job performance incorporates integrated service delivery model while promoting self-sufficiency.

• Participates in the larger team of the agency through committee structures, planning, policy development and volunteerism

• Act as Notary for CODI/ COI programs

• Pull credit reports for business loan applicants, HALP applicants, Seneca Nation of Indians, and Jamestown Department of Economic Development

• Develop & Implement CODI Marketing program including brochures, handouts, and print media

• Design and publish social media posts

• Manage existing portfolio. utilize specialized loan software to post payments, late fees, etc. as well as print and send monthly billing statements, interest letters, etc.

• Assist with yearly audits

• Write monthly success stories for CODI Board

• Attend monthly loan committee meetings and provide additional information as needed

• Order property searches as needed

• Prepare loan closing documents. facilitate official loan closings and dispersal of loan proceeds.

• Other duties as designated by supervisor

• Maintains confidentiality and complies with the code of ethics.

• Maintains consistent professional customer service.

A. Internal:Economic Development Coordinator, Sr. Accounting Manager, Service Area Managers,

B. External:CODI loan committe,economic Development organizations, other service agencies, banks, funders, partners

Organizational Responsibilities:

• Gathers appropriate documentation and tracks outcomes.

• Participates in organizational committee structures as appropriate.

• Participates in organizational and divisional management systems.

Knowledge, Skills Required:

• Associates Degree in Business Administration/Finance/Accounting/Marketing preferred; or

HS Diploma with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Business ownership, Marketing, Banking or Accounting required.

• Minimum of one-year experience in banking, finance, business management, sales, marketing, accounting or small business ownership required.

• Independent, self-directed.

• Knowledge of general business practices.

• Ability to relate to diverse population.

• Exceptional verbal and written skills.

• Team builder

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Google Docs.

Physical

• Ability to lift up to and including 10-25 pounds of physical effort.

Special Requirements:

• Must be able to provide consistent, even-tempered customer service at all times.

• Valid Driver’s license

• Reliable transportation

• Ability to travel throughout the county.
