Summary:

Develop and prepare Employee Timetables, Train, Engine service crew schedules and equipment schedules for all classes of crew service and electric and diesel car assignments, train cycles, terminal track assignments and equipment manipulations to support future and current service plans. Responsible for the database maintenance and system utilization associated with all timetable, crew and equipment schedules in TPSS and HASTUS scheduling system.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Develop Employee Timetables for future and current operating scenarios.

  • Develop Train and Engine Service crew schedules and equipment schedules for future and current operating scenarios.

  • Develop timetable, crew and/or equipment schedules in support of track work, capital projects, holiday service, service disruptions and other special events and programs.

  • Maintain the database associated with all timetable, crew and equipment schedules in TPSS and HASTUS scheduling system.

  • Coordinate timetable schedule changes with affected departments for implementation.

  • Evaluate train crew and collector onboard data, passenger counts and fare analysis reports to develop crew schedule changes to effectively utilize available manpower resources.

  • Provide Transportation Command Center staffing as required in response to emergencies, weather conditions, service disruptions and special programs.

  • Perform ridership counts as directed.

    Qualifications:

  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent (GED or TASC) approved by a State's Department of Education or recognized accredited organization.

  • Must be a current LIRR employee.

  • Knowledge of Transportation and Maintenance of Equipment Department work rules and procedures.

  • Knowledge of electric and diesel equipment manipulations.

  • Knowledge of or qualified on, LIRR physical characteristics and Rules of the Operating Department.

  • Experience in management of labor relations preferably related to Train and Engine service.

  • Proficient in computer software operation.

  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills and the ability to foster interdepartmental cooperation between departments having diverse objectives.

    Preferred/Desirable Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • Scheduling experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of timetable, crew and equipment scheduling systems preferred.

    Other Information:

    In addition to meeting the minimum requirements of the position, the selection process may include, but is not limited to, a pre-screening assessment (i.e., physical, written and/ or practical evaluation) and interview. Candidates forfeit further consideration in the process if they fail to participate in any step of the process when scheduled. Make up dates/times will not be given. In addition, LIRR employee applicants must be in their current position for the 12 months immediately preceding the close date of this posting and must possess a satisfactory work history, including attendance and discipline record.
