MTA Long Island Rail Road Plumber Foreman in Jamaica, New York

The Plumber Foreman is required to plan, lead and coordinate the work of employees in their daily assignments which may include maintain, repair, install new rest rooms, fire hydrants, heating, fire standpipes, sprinkler, serer and storm systems, as well as gas piping and underground piping. They are responsible for the safe and economical use of labor, materials, equipment and tools assigned to their area. In addition, a Plumber Foreman is required to ensure that company policy is adhered to. A Plumber Foreman is responsible for the safety and welling being of all employees under their jurisdiction.

Responsibilities include the following:

Take all necessary steps to maintain and repair LIRR buildings and facilities.
Plan and monitor the execution of construction or maintenance projects to ensure safe, satisfactory workmanship, elimination of unnecessary overtime, and that the work progresses promptly and coordinate where other departments are involved.
Conduct Safety Observations.
Ensure Safety Meetings are held on schedule and all problems are addressed.
Participate in investigations of on-the-job accidents for cause and prevention in gang.
Administer progressive testing and evaluation of newly hired employees.
Prepare material charge outs or requisitions via PeopleSoft or other methods employed by the company with accuracy and concise information.
Monitor materials to help reduce inventory.
Complete time and labor reports members of assigned gang.
Maintain a daily log of all gang activity.
Secure and log all tools and equipment issued to gang trucks.
Monitor vehicle usage forms. Be available for programmed work. Respond to emergency call outs.

Qualifications:
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent (GED) approved by a State's Department of Education or recognized accredited organization. Internal candidates must have completed three (3) years of LIRR service with related plumbing experience and working in the B&B Departments Plumbing Division within the past three (3) years. Must have a satisfactory work record (including safety, attendance and discipline). Demonstrated willingness to assume and handle responsibilities. Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills. Required to participate and attend "MECC Training Program", in addition to other classes identified to assist in the enhancement of supervisory skills. Demonstrate ability to use equipment.
