Summary

Daily accumulation of data utilized in the processing of payments for the Exception Payroll System for BLE and UTU employees. Evaluate and approve claims for BLE, UTU, and non-operating employees. Responsible for the maintenance of records and reports used in conjunction with the handling of the Exception Payroll System as well as data supplied for the progression of claims. Interpret and appropriately apply the contractual rules provided in the collective bargaining agreements.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Review, analyze and approve payments for the Crew Board and timecards for operating and non-operating employees.

  • Evaluate and interpret reports generated from Crew Dispatching and Absence Control Section for the Exception Payroll System.

  • Run and audit daily/weekly payroll reports from Kronos to ensure payroll accuracy.

  • Process claims and issue denials within the time limits provided in the various union agreements for Train, Engine Service and Nonoperating employees.

  • Work in close liaison with Payroll Department personnel to meet payroll and claim payment time limits.

    Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or its educational equivalent (GED or TASC) approved by a State's Department of Education or recognized accredited organization.

  • Minimum of three years related experience in either Operations or Payroll.

  • Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.

  • Proficiency in PC programs for Payroll and Denial Systems.

    Preferred/Desirable Skills/Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in related field of study.

  • Experience with KRONOS, TEAMS and/or Peoplesoft programs.

  • Knowledge of LIRR crew assignment book and timetable.

    Step 1 80% Rate of Pay $ 36.924

    Step 2 85% Rate of Pay $39.232

    Step 3 90% Rate of Pay $41.540

    Step 4 95% Rate of Pay $43.848

    Step 5 Full Rate of Pay $46.155
