Foodnet Meals on Wheels Assistant Cook in Ithaca, New York

Assistant Cook <p>

Basics: Full-time, non-exempt, 35 hours per week 6:00 am to 1:30 pm! This is a Monday through Friday position with no weekend or evening shifts. <p>

What you will do: <ul> <li>Be a part of the Foodnets Food Service Operations Team to prepare food according to recipe guidelines as part of Foodnets Senior Nutrition Program. <li>Become an active member of the Foodnet team committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace that strengthens our organization and enhances our ability to adapt to change. <li>Work for an organization that believes in providing a living wage, currently $18.45 per hour. <li>Benefit from health care benefits, a generous PTO package, an Employee Assistance Program the ideal that you are making a difference in the lives of Tompkins County seniors. </ul>

What you will need: <ul> <li>A desire to ensure the food security of older people living in Tompkins County. <li>The leadership ability to function effectively in the role. A high school diploma/equivalent is preferred. <li>Reliable transportation to and from work and valid current NYS drivers license required. Three years of a good safety record is preferred. <li>A sense of humor, fun-loving spirit, and the desire to see good in others. <li>Experience working with older adults, individuals living with disabilities, and diverse populations is welcome. <li>The ability to work a full shift with the ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time in a positive fast-paced kitchen. Experience in food services and production is a plus. <li>Ability to follow oral and written directions and standard recipes with restaurant or foodservice production preferred. <li>A current ServeSafe Certification or ability to obtain in early service. <li>Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. finger/hand dexterity to operate kitchen machinery, knives, etc., possess hearing, visual, and sensory abilities to observe and detect emergency situations; also, to distinguish product, taste texture, temperature and presentation and preparation. </ul>
