About the AAP Office of Admissions and Student Services

The Office of Admissions and Student Services at the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning (AAP) provides strategic focus and superior quality services in the promotion of the college's academic

opportunities and resources essential to providing seamless support for students and faculty. The office

is co-led by the Senior Director of Enrollment and the Senior Director of Student Experience, and is

comprised of these collaborative teams:

The Opportunity

We are seeking an Admissions and Service Services Office and Event Coordinator to serve as the first point of contact for the Office of Admissions & Student Services. This position plays a crucial role in supporting our current students, faculty, and staff, as well as welcoming prospective students and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Services Support: Provide guidance on a variety of student services-related policies, systems, and procedures. Manage and respond to e-mail, phone, and in-person inquiries. Troubleshoot problems and triage difficult cases, referring to staff as needed.
  • Front Desk Management: Greet and welcome prospective students and families. Assist current undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff with their inquiries.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to Admissions & Student Services staff, programming, and events under the areas of admissions, advising, career development, well-being, diversity and inclusion, and off-campus study.
  • Event and Programming Support: Provide general event and planning support to all areas of Admissions & Student Services. Work all large-scale college events and functions (commencement, convocation, orientation, family weekend, etc.) which may include limited evening and weekend work.
  • Student Records and Course Maintenance: Responsible for the maintenance of the permanent records of all AAP students. Serve as primary contact to faculty and staff for grading. Under the direction of the Registrar team, serve as the primary administrative support staff for the annual review and updating of the University Catalog.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the registrar, advising, career services, student well-being, diversity and inclusion, and global study teams. Support the seamless operation of student services and admissions processes.

What You Need

  • Associate's Degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong communication skills-both written and oral; well-developed organizational skills; discretion, including respect for condential information; ability to work independently and exercise good judgment; consistency in the application of established policies and procedures; ability to multi-task and function in fast paced, high-volume environment. Prociency with desktop programs and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • The Admissions and Student Services Office and Event Coordinator will be comfortable with technology and information systems, possess a strong commitment to excellent customer service, be able to multi-task and perform a variety of job responsibilities in a complex and deadline- driven environment, and naturally seek to improve and streamline processes.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and wellbeing.
  • Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds.

  • Bachelor's degree. Knowledge of admissions or student services at Cornell. Experience working with diverse student populations preferred. Knowledge of Cornell's computer systems.
