DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a part-time Van Driver, you will have the opportunity to enhance the mobility of consumers by providing professional and accessible transportation in a safe, reliable, comfortable, and courteous manner. Work includes independently operating a county vehicle an average of 150 miles each day. This is an opportunity to provide transportation services as well as social contact for our consumers. Excellent communication skills are required, both person to person and via two-way radio. You must have patience and the ability to assist consumers, including senior adults and wheelchair-dependent consumers along rough payment or unpaved paths. As every day is different, you must be willing to easily adjust your daily work schedule.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Part-time employment, approximately 14 to 21 hours per week. Transportation operates 4 AM to 9 PM, Monday through Friday with limited hours on Saturday. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Necessary Special Requirement: Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license. Condition of Employment: No suspension of driver's license within the last three years. Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, or Wayne counties.  If no eligible candidates who live in Wayne, Pike, Monroe, Lackawanna, or Susquehanna counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
