Welder/Fabricator, Mechanic – Construction Equipment

Holtsville, NY

Pay : $45.71 - $56.34/hour (dependent on experience and skillset)

    Key qualifications :

  • Minimum 3+ years welding experience required, (heavy equipment and metal fabrication experience highly preferred)

  • Machinist / line boring experience a plus

  • Must be computer literate and able to learn new systems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be able to troubleshoot technical problems, meet or exceed labor repair guidelines, possess the ability to plan and efficiently complete assigned tasks

  • Valid Driver’s License (for as needed travel to customers)

  • CDL license a plus

    Responsibilities:

    Successfully provide service of recognized superior value

  • Troubleshoot problems

  • Efficiently utilize resources to correct problems

  • Document steps taken to correct problems

    Maximize the efficient use of service and welding processes to provide fast accurate service and minimize unnecessary expense

  • Plan proper welding and fabrication procedures for efficiency

  • Efficiently utilize tooling and technical resources

  • Continually improve key processes

  • Effectively communicate status of welding work with supervisor

    A culture that focuses on safety and safe work habits

  • Be an active part in the continuous improvement of H.O. Penn’s safety culture

  • Timely completion of any required safety training for self

  • Adherence to all Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies

  • Understand job risks and take appropriate steps to mitigate those risks, such as wearing all required personal protective equipment as required by task

    Qualifications:

    Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking

  • Lifting (up to 60lbs.)

  • Carrying (up to 50lbs.)

  • Push/pull (up to 80lbs.)

  • Sitting, rotation and forward bending (sitting and standing)

  • Hand coordination and reaching

  • Grip (30lbs. with both hands, 80lbs. with preferred/single hand)

  • Foot pedal operation

  • Climbing stairs and ladders

  • Crawling, low work (kneeling), and awkward positioning

  • Outdoor work (as required)

  • Wearing 10-20lbs. of protective clothing, including fire resistant clothing, welding helmet/shield, & ANSI-rated protective footwear (as required)
