SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible to support all functions related to the operation of the Boards of Directors for PSH, MSHMC, PSH St. Joseph’s, and various other PSH subsidiary organizations. This role is a direct report to the Penn State Health General Counsel/Corporate and Board Secretary and is responsible for managing and overseeing all activities of the Office of Corporate Secretary while also providing direct support to the members of the various Boards of Directors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • This role requires an overall knowledge of Penn State Health, affiliates, and joint ventures; appropriate contacts, policies and procedures, general activities and operations throughout the organization, and also, most significantly, this individual must always have a strong awareness of any occurrences that affect the members of the Boards of Directors and Penn State Health leadership.

  • Proficient use of computer with all applicable software applications, and some knowledge of relevant technology.

  • Organizational skills, details, and knowledge are the keys to success in this position.

  • Expands knowledge of best practices and incorporates into all work assignments and procedures.

  • Ability to work independently on highly complex or strategic assignments.

  • Ability to recruit, direct, supervise, and evaluate office staff, if needed.

  • Ability to be self-directed requiring minimal supervision and follow up to obtain results is critical. Must be able to work with all levels of leadership in order to obtain necessary results and achieve organizational goals doing so with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.

  • This position is dependent upon accountability and self-management.

  • The individual in this role must have the ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks using their own discretion.

  • Superior organizational skills is critical to be successful in this position. Must be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with leadership, staff and Board Members at all levels throughout the organization in order to achieve established organizational goals and strategic imperatives.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing as well as verbally to assorted internal and external constituencies. Tact, diplomacy, empathy and above all, confidentiality are key ingredients.

  • Must demonstrate and adhere to the organization’s core values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Excellence and provide leadership by example.

  • Prepares written and/or verbal presentations or proposals on highly complex issues and delivers to a broad variety of audiences as necessary.

  • Must be a proven problem solver who looks for innovative methods to improve daily operational tasks. Identifies and implements innovative solutions to important, highly complex strategic and/or operational issues which may involve unusual circumstances and incomplete or conflicting data.

  • Proven work experience in time management, supervision of subordinates, superior organizational skills, team building, information tracking and follow through skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or paralegal experience, with proven work experience in time management, supervision of subordinates, superior organizational skills, team building, information tracking and follow-through skills required.
