EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for over 62,888 people in need through 100 programs across Long Island and NYC, seeks a Bookkeeper to work part time for its Nassau Adult Guardianship Program.
The Bookkeeper is a part-time position paying $25 per hour at 21 hours per week. The program operates between the hours of Monday-Friday 9am-5PM. The office is located in Hempstead, NY. The role reports to the Program Director.
Primary Purpose of Job:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing client funds as dictated in the Order and Judgment. The Bookkeeper will maintain accurate and detailed accounts of all assets.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Identify and marshal clients income and assets.
Identify clients outstanding and ongoing liabilities and expenses and manage the processing of payments for bills and other expenses, using Article 81 approved banking accounts and database.
Prepare and review clients financial information for initial, annual, and final accounts reporting
File annual tax returns and negotiate back taxes
Individualized financial services on an as-needed basis, such as reverse mortgages, managing and making withdrawals from investments, or assist in selling property
Submit written progress reports as required by the Department of Social Services and/or Guardianship Court.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
High School diploma or Educational equivalent required. Bachelors Degree in a related field preferred, Accounting/business certificate with significant experience accepted.
Minimum of one-year experiences working in an accounting capacity required.
Must have good communication skills, both oral and written; must have the ability to work cooperatively with the department of social service professionals and other professionals interfacing with program clients.
Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
Must have access to automobile and possess valid Drivers License.
