  • Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree preferred in Education or Behavior Psychology with experience in DD/OPWDD (Bachelor’s Degree with experience can be considered).

  • Work Experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities/OPWDD.

  • Minimum certification of Registered Behavior Technician, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, MA in ABA or 15 credits in ABA preferred (or working towards) and qualified as an OPWDD Level 2 BIS.

  • Knowledge of educational, behavioral procedures, principles and technology.

  • Knowledge of educational/treatment planning.

  • Sensitivity to the needs of the Individuals.

  • Certification as a SCIP-R Trainer or willingness to become a trainer

  • Accountability

  • Directly accountable to the Adult Programs LBA/BCBA

  • Indirectly accountable Coordinator of Community Programs and the Executive Director.

  • Specific Responsibilities

  • Intervenes/provides support in crisis situations as needed.

  • Ongoing review of Individual’s Life Plans to ensure appropriateness of goals and objectives and Levels of Supervision (LOS)

  • Participates in Human Rights Committee Meetings as needed to present individual’s behavioral data,

address and discuss the issues and to follow up on the recommendations made by the Committee.

  • Reviews incidents involving behavioral issues.

  • Regularly reviews T-Logs to monitor how Individuals are doing and follows up on any behavioral issues indicated.

  • Observes staff interaction with individuals, provides feedback, collects data.

  • Assists with developing and training staff in behavioral principles and technology and individualized behavior programs.

  • Assists with oversight of behavior programs, and of training for staff and Individuals.

  • Under the supervision of the LBA/BCBA updates behavior plans on an annual basis, or as needed and completes 6-month reviews of behavior plans.

  • Intervenes in “special” Individual cases that require non-routine procedures.

  • Compiles reports for psychiatry appointments and attends appointments as needed.

  • Assists in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments for individuals in the program as needed under the guidance of the Adult Programs Behavioral Supervisor.

  • Writes, trains, and implements behavior support plans as needed for individuals in the program under the guidance of the Adult Programs Behavioral Supervisor.

  • Review and assist LBA/BCBA and manager(s) in assigned residence(s) in ensuring that the residence is meeting documentation compliance requirements.related to behavioral plans/data

  • Review and assist LBA/BCBA and Program Coordinator at Day Hab in ensuring that the staff are meeting documentation compliance requirements related to behavioral plans/data

  • Maintain communication with LBA/BCBA and manager(s) in assigned residence(s) andand Program Coordinator in Day Hab regarding ongoing or occurring behavioral issues.

  • Consult with Adult Programs LBA/BCBA as needed and maintain log notes of each house visit to be reviewed by the Adult ProgramsLBA/BCBA.

    1. General Responsibilities
  • Follows all Hawthorne Foundation Inc. Policies and Procedures.

  • Implements all individual’s behavior programming.

  • Reviews behavior books for compliance of all behavior programs including behavior plans, 6-month reviews and data collection.

  • Directly responsible for all individuals’ health, safety, and welfare.

    1. Supervision
  • Supervises and guides staff in the application of behavioral techniques.

  • Ensures that programs are followed, and data recorded appropriately.

  • Participates in individual and biweekly group meetings.

  • Oversees the behavior analysis expertise across assigned groups at Day Hab and assigned residences in conjunction with the Behavior Analyst.

  • Ensures incident reports are completed appropriately and in a timely manner and are reported to QA/Justice Center/OPWDD as required.

    1. Evaluation
  • Assess individuals’ behavior needs in analysis of direct and indirect assessments, and instructional objectives.

  • Constructs on-going analysis of problems and progress in the Life Plans programs.

  • Reviews communications, academic, and social progress of Individual at annual and semi-annual interdisciplinary team meetings.

  • Maintain an up-to-date account of Individuals’ progress (Life Plans updates and individual progress reports) and analyzes program data on a daily basis.

    1. Physical Requirements
  • Sitting, standing, bending, lifting furniture and Individuals as necessary.

  • Must be able to effectively use skills required as part of this position, i.e., CPR, First Aid, Physical Intervention Techniques, Medication Administration, etc.

  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

  • Must be able to function independently, have personal integrity, flexibility and the ability to work effectively with other personnel.

  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.

  • Must possess sight, hearing, and smell senses, or use a prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be met.
