The Chief Detective Investigator is responsible for directing andcoordinating the activities of the investigative staff for the DistrictAttorney's Office. The duties involve developing operating proceduresfor investigative methods and supervising the activities ofinvestigators engaged in investigations. The incumbent directs thetraining of investigative personnel. Supervision is received from theDistrict Attorney or the Chief Assistant District Attorney throughconferences. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Ten years of diverse investigationexperience in a local law enforcement agency and five additional yearsof experience working as a federal law enforcement investigator.” Thesuccessful candidate will have a demonstrated record of workingcollaboratively with state and local law enforcement, past supervisoryexperience, and specialized expertise in investigations into drugoperations, anti-terrorism and public corruption offenses. Thesuccessful candidate will be responsible for directing and coordinatingthe activities of the investigative staff for the District Attorney'sOffice. The duties involve developing operating procedures forinvestigative methods and supervising the activities of investigatorsengaged in investigations. The Deputy Chief Detective Investigatorassists in the supervision of continuing investigations and otherwisecoordinates activities of the District Attorney's investigative staff.Responsibility is included for directing and conducting particularlysensitive investigations and for conducting internal investigations asrequired. The work is performed under the general direction of the ChiefDetective Investigator or District Attorney and is reviewed throughconferences and submission of required reports MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a highschool equivalency diploma recognized by the New York State Departmentof Education and an aggregate minimum of eight (8) years of experienceas a detective or plainclothes investigator while employed as a policeofficer by a state, county, city, town or village police departmentwithin New York State. At least four years of this experience must havebeen in a supervisory capacity with responsibility for the investigationof syndicated, organized criminal activity in more than one of thefollowing: arson; homicide; larceny by extortion; gambling; narcotics;prostitution; usury. The Division Chief position requires an individualwith unimpeachable integrity and significant prosecution and managerialexperience to serve as a Division Chief overseeing the newly createdSpecial Affairs Division. Inclusive of this position, there are threeDivisions -- the Trial Division, Investigations Division, and theSpecial Affairs Division -- each of which is overseen by a DivisionChief. The Division Chiefs report to the Chief Assistant who in turnreports to the District Attorney, all of whom comprise the ExecutiveOffice, along with the Chief of Staff and Chief Investigator. TheSpecial Affairs Division Chief will oversee the newly created ConvictionIntegrity Bureau, the Public Integrity Bureau, and the Appeals andTraining Bureau. Each Bureau is overseen by a Bureau Chief who willreport to the Division Chief. Candidates must possess a New York StateLicense to practice law before the Bar of the State of New York.
