Reference #: 4347910 THE POSITION Do you have experience in the regulation of food safety? If so, this may be a position for you! The Division of Food Safety plays a critical role in protecting Pennsylvanians and our visitors by regulating the tens of thousands of eating and drinking establishments, retail food stores, and food manufacturers found across the state to ensure compliance with food safety laws. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position holds the responsibility of conducting various inspections pertaining to food safety in different types of establishments, including dairy farms, produce farms, retail food facilities, manufacturing facilities, milk processing facilities, and distribution and warehousing facilities. To ensure safety and compliance, the individual in this role samples food and milk products and sends them to the Food Laboratory for further analysis if required. Furthermore, the position involves inspecting fruits and vegetables and reviewing relevant documentation to ensure accurate labeling. Additionally, the role includes issuing federal grading certificates and preparing correspondence to facility owners, the public, and the department supervisor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Position will be home headquartered if applicant lives in Lancaster or Lebanon County. If applicant does not live in the counties listed above, the assigned state vehicle must be parked in one of those counties, and the work day will start at 8:00 AM at the location of the assigned state vehicle. Occasional overtime for training and facilities operating on non-work days and outside of work hours. Occasional overnight travel required. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, chemistry, microbiology, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
