DESCRIPTION OF WORK The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) is hiring an engineer to fill a Fixed Utility Valuation Engineer Trainee (FUVE Trainee) position within the PUC's Bureau of Technical Utility Services (TUS).  TUS FUVE Trainees work with senior staff and management on the review, processing, and analyzation of reports and filings of electric utilities, all with the goal of ensuring the utilities are providing reliable service at a reasonable cost.  FUVE Trainees will learn how to review and evaluate the filings submitted by fixed utilities from an engineering perspective.  The FUVE Trainee will also learn how to prepare written orders, reports, memos, and other documents for internal and external stakeholders on topics and issues related to electric reliability and resiliency.  The FUVE Trainee will learn to work with electric utilities, consumers, and other PUC staff to address reliability concerns referred by stakeholders such as the public, local and state elected officials, and other state agencies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Telework: Part-time work from home (telework) may be a potential feature of this position. The successful candidate is required to report to the headquarters worksite daily, unless the employee meets eligibility requirements and telework has been approved. Management may discontinue any telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

To be eligible to participate in telework, the employee's alternate (telework) worksite must meet the following requirements:

Within a reasonable travel distance of Harrisburg; and

Within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in Valuation Engineering or other engineering discipline related to public or private utility generation, collection and distribution systems; or Four years of related engineering experience with a public utility or public utility regulatory agency, and the possession of an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or accep able to the Pa. State Board of Professional Engineers.
