The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Maintenance Division is looking for a motivated Electrician to assist in maintaining the historic facilities at the Capitol Complex and adjacent office buildings. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Electrician for the Department of General Services, you will perform a variety of skilled duties relating to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, electrical distribution equipment, and electrical components within the Capitol Complex and outlying buildings. Work includes wiring, panel boards, service equipment, circuit breakers, transfer switches, feeders, indoor and outdoor lighting, electric steam boilers, relays, transformers, and modular furniture electric distribution. You will have the opportunity to pinpoint and correct power failures and short circuits, including reviewing and following blueprints as well as drawing specifications and layout sketches in order to prepare for material requirements. This position may require that you work from ladders, scaffolding, and lifts to heights of 40 feet.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position is considered essential. You will be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings, including mandatory snow and ice removal. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (commonwealth title); or Four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements: You must possess a valid license as a journey-level electrician issued by the local Pennsylvania jurisdiction. You must possess an active motor vehicle license. Additional Requirements: You must be willing and able to work in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualifications (not required): Formal training in a high school or vocational program, apprenticeship, or post high school technical program in the Electrical trade Possession of a Journeyman License or Master's License Electrical experience in the commercial or industrial setting Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints Experience with 3 phase electrical systems Experience working with voltages over 480V Experience as a lead worker on an electrical project and/or job Experience in snow removal with plows, snow blowers, or other snow removal equipment This job occasionally requires working at heights. Willingness and ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, bucket trucks or man lifts This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
