Reference #: 4564342 THE POSITION The Department of Agriculture is seeking a scientific professional to perform critical work as a Chemist 2 within the Laboratory Division of the Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services. DESCRIPTION OF WORK The mission of the Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services is to protect and keep food safe, from the farm to the fork, by educating, regulating and ensuring compliance with food safety laws and regulations. In this role, you will conduct chemical and physical analysis of human food, animal feed, agronomic products, and environmental samples for the determination of compliance with regulatory standards set forth or enforced by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 1 day per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Chemist 1; or One year of professional chemical analytical experience, and a bachelor's degree that includes 30 credits in chemistry or biochemistry; or A graduate degree in chemistry. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
