Proposed Schedule: 40 hours per week. Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Lead RN (Registered Nurse) is responsible for assisting the Nurse Leader with oversight of the day-to-day nursing activity ensuring that patient flow is maintained, nursing resources are being appropriately utilized, and high-quality nursing care is being provided. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
Develop nursing staff as needs are identified under supervision of Nurse Leader.
Provide age-appropriate, population-specific nursing care in a compassionate, caring, culturally and ethnically sensitive manner.
Work with Nurse Leader to determine the optimal allocation of staff.
Review schedules to ensure staffing is in place.
Maintain a hands-on approach by working in the capacity of a clinical Registered Nurse
Demonstrate a professional and cooperative relationship with the Nurse Leader, Patient Services Leader, Practice Leader, and Medical Leaders.
Oversee the clinical inboxes allowing all staff members to work to the highest level of their license/job duties.
Perform duties of Triage RN when needed.
Develop strategies for dealing with specific staff problems as they pertain to follow-up and educational needs.
Act as a liaison between patients, staff and providers. Facilitate communication regarding patient needs. Perform frequent rounds in multiple locations as directed by the Nurse Leader or Practice Leader.
Triage walk-in patients and assist with medical emergencies within the center.
Provide regular feedback to the Nurse Leader regarding staff performance. Redirect staff when indicated.
Take the lead with supervision/oversight of staff in the absence of the Nurse Leader, keeping the Practice Leader and Medical Leader informed of any pertinent changes.
Provide guidance and mentor new and incumbent staff based on skill set.
Monitor and respond to patient flow and schedule. Assist with delegating or reassigning staff when needed to improve flow of center.
Assist with oversight of standards, quality measures, competencies, policies and procedures, point of care testing (CLIA), including specimen collection and proper documentation in the electronic medical record.
Assist in facilitating regular nursing staff meetings and attending health center staff meetings.
Actively contribute to the professional development, morale and teamwork of staff while presenting a positive attitude and patient-minded vision, with patient safety and satisfaction as the continuing goals.
Ensure proper operation of medical equipment and perform monthly and quarterly EOC audits accurately.
Maintain nursing supplies inventory by checking stock, determining appropriate inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies, placing and verifying receipt of supplies.
Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to perform the essential functions:
Registered Nurse with an A.A.S. degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing
Minimum of 3-5 years Registered Nurse clinical experience
Prior supervisory and emergency/urgent care experience preferred
Ambulatory care experience preferred
An unrestricted NYS RN license to practice nursing in New York State
A valid NYS driver’s license and be able to travel throughout the Network
Current BLS certification
Computer competencies including electronic medical record experience
Knowledge of current nursing practices and standards of care
Proficient with Microsoft applications
Self-directed, detail-oriented, motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team atmosphere
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, medical staff and other departments
Ability to envision the “big picture” and how the Network’s Nursing Department activities are an extension of other Network initiatives and goals
The pay rate for this position is $38.46/hour.
