Position Summary
HIGHLIGHTS
The Community Outreach Assistant & Student Employment Services Coordinator’s primary function is to assist with the areas of student employment, work/study school tutoring, civic engagement and voting, and community outreach.
This is a 10-month, part-time position, working August through May.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience with PC and Apple software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience with the Google platform, including Drive, Forms, Docs, and Sheets
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field
Experience in student employment services
Experience working with college students in a higher education setting
Experience with student employment software such as Handshake or equivalent
Experience utilizing Banner or other student management software
Experience in community outreach, civic engagement, networking, and using social media for marketing purposes
License/Certification

Work under the direction of the Dean of Students as a member of the Center for Community leadership and service team.
Supervision Exercised
Possibly for civic engagement student interns.

Function 1: Handshake Support
Provide support to employers and students in accessing the Handshake system, the online job posting system Career Design shares with the Student Employment Service office.

Function 2: America Reads/America Counts Program
Supervise the America Reads/America Counts tutoring programs in area public schools, including supervising student coordinator(s).
Work with the Financial Aid office to determine who qualifies for federal work/study money, and who has the requisite math and reading skills for tutoring.

Function 3: Civic Engagement
Coordinate the College’s civic engagement initiatives, including voter registration drives and the campus’s polling site.

Function 4: Partnerships
Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with local and regional organizations, offices, and programs, including the Downtown Partnership associated with the Livingston County Economic Development and the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce, associated with tourism.
Create and support marketing strategies for Center for Community events for both on-campus and off-campus audiences, including students and the greater Geneseo/Livingston County community.
