Life's WORC Direct Support Professional in Garden City, New York

We have about 25 openings in Nassau County for Direct Support Professional. Most are full-tie, 3pm 11pm shifts (including one or both weekend days). We also have some overnight shifts and part-time weekend only shifts. The pay rate is $17 - $18 per hour. A drivers license is needed. A HS diploma is not required, though it is preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION - Nonexempt The Direct Support Professional (DSP) reports directly to the Manager and/or Assistant Manager of the residence. Responsible for providing direct support and assistance to the people we support. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Prior experience assisting persons with developmental disabilities preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Valid Drivers license required (any state)

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO Provide ongoing protective oversight to the people we support. Implementation of Residential Habilitation Plans. Provide assistance and instruction to each person we support in basic activities of daily living. Provide training and support for each person we support in accordance with the individual program plan. Lifting required which may include 2-person transfer, laundry, groceries, etc). Mandated reporter required to cooperate with any and all investigations. Successful completion and maintenance of certifications (AMAP, SCIP, CPR). Scheduling flexibility. May be required to work beyond the normal shift. Drive agency vans that are equipped with GPS monitoring systems and demonstrate safe driving practices. Ensure cleanliness of vehicles. Maintain vehicle logs (driver is responsible for any/all tickets). Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and clutter free environment. Proper use and maintenance of household equipment and appliances. Attendance at all scheduled in-service training and staff meetings. Adheres to all compliance related policies and procedures and completes related trainings as assigned. Working knowledge of agency software (Medisked, Outlook, UKG, etc). Flexibility required to work at varied program sites in Queens, Nassau & Suffolk Counties as requested. Establish and maintain professional, positive relationship with the people we support, families, all team members and ourtside service providers. Participate and cooperate when an incident of any kind is filed internally or through the Justice Center and an investigation is initiated. Includes participating in interviews with an investigator as requested and providing a signed & dated written statement to the Q.A. Investigator within 24hrs of completing the interview. Perform other duties as assigned.
