Franklin Investment Corp (Franklin Industries) FACILITY MAINTENANCE MANAGER in FRANKLIN, Pennsylvania

Job Purpose:

The Facility Maintenance Manager will manage the millwrights, millwright apprentices, welders, and electricians assigned to Mill/Production Shears. The Facility Maintenance Manager will ensure that a preventive maintenance program is developed through the CMMS and will ensure that scheduled maintenance is performed as established within the system. This position is also responsible for assessing emergency maintenance issues and approving a plan of action that will enable an expedient return to operations. Communication with Mill management is a key component in maintaining a strong and affective maintenance program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the timely completion of all work orders assigned to the maintenance employees within scope of position
  • Oversee the maintenance and construction of electrical systems on the plan and ensures that all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) standards
  • Allocate and prioritize resources
  • When appropriate, works with staff on more technically advanced or complex tasks to increase staff awareness and knowledge
  • Review completed work for adherence to established standards of quality
  • Work with employees to correct deficiencies
  • Advocate for ongoing staff training such as monthly Lunch/Train sessions provided by vendors
  • Meet monthly with the Executive Committee to review KPIs, Lean initiatives, Projects and Proposals  
  • Establish weekly staffing schedule in conjunction with HR Manager
  • Review daily reports from Mill/Production Shears and determines impact for maintenance
  • Responsible for seeking purchase approval and creating POs
  • Ensure that all maintenance and repair equipment is repaired/replaced as necessary
  • Seek approval for project proposals which includes a budget for staff, materials, and other associated costs
  • Establish a Daily Lean Meeting with a rotating daily leader
  • Conduct bi-weekly safety training for new hires with less than 12 months experience
  • Maintain a current job manual including daily/weekly/monthly/yearly checklist
  • Meet with vendors
  • Participate on interview panels
  • Monitor and track staff attendance
  • Implement discipline procedures as per policy
  • Maintain a supervisory file for all assigned employees

Qualifications:

  • Trade school diploma or certificate preferred
  • 10 years of experience in mechanical or electrical upgrades and repairs required
  • 5 years of experience managing maintenance employees in an industrial manufacturing environment required
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills
  • Experienced at establishing effective teams
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems required
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and solve maintenance issues
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, experience with mobile equipment repair
  • Solid analytical skills utilizing the 5 Whys and Root Cause Analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office and CMMS software
  • Ability to write for understanding
  • Excellent math skills

Working Conditions (if applicable):

  • This is a safety sensitive position. You will be around and/or operating heavy machinery.
  • Office and plant environment. (PPE required in plant)
  • Temperature variations in plant (can be extreme)
  • Working around mechanical parts and vibrations
  • Working around some fumes and gases
  • Working with some fluids and chemicals
  • Working around loud noises

Essential Job Functions:

  • Create a "safety first" environment
  • Ensure that all prev ntive maintenance occurs as scheduled through CMMS and document completion
  • Assess emergency maintenance issues in conjunction with Mill management and Maintenance personnel and develop and approve a plan of action
