Description

Controller

A client of ours is looking for a Controller for a contract role. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and will be proficient in using Great Plains software preferably within the service or energy industry.

Responsibilities of Controller

  • Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.

  • Manage the general ledger and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.

  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate external audits and ensure timely and accurate audit completion.

  • Monitor cash flow, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

  • Provide strategic financial analysis and support to senior management.

  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

  • Utilize Great Plains software for financial reporting and analysis.

    Requirements

Skills/Qualifications of Controller

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

  • Expert knowledge of risk management, insurance, state and federal accounting and tax compliance best practices.

  • Strong experience in the service or energy sector.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, accounting, and payroll software

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be able to go to the office twice a month

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
