Summary This National Guard position is for a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2479000 and is part of the NJJFHQ, National Guard. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Responsibilities As a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-9, you will: Performs developmental assignments of moderate difficulty where work procedures are established, and a number of specific guidelines exist. Independently performs recurring assignments of limited, but gradually increasing, difficulty and complexity. The employee is responsible for locating and selecting the most appropriate guidelines and procedures for application and making minor deviations to adapt the guidelines to specific cases. Analyzes routine problems that are encountered and resolves them. Participates in special initiatives, studies, and projects. Assists in preparing reports and briefings outlining study findings and recommendations. Implement security regulations Prepares written correspondence and other documentation. Drafts or prepares a variety of documents to include newsletter items, responses to routine inquiries, reports, letters, and other related documents. Requirements Conditions of Employment MMILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Security Clearance: Must have a Secret Security Clearance prior to application. Areas of Consideration: Areas IV: (T32 Only) Anyone eligible for membership within the NJ NG Military Grades: MIN. E-3 MAX. O3 National Guard Membership is required -Participation in direct deposit is mandatory -Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service -Federal employment suitability as determined by a background Investigation -May be required to successfully complete a probationary period Qualifications General Experience Must have the following experience(s): Understanding of the basic principles and concepts of Security Following directions, reading, understanding, and retaining a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Specialized Experience Must have 24 months of the following experience(s): Providing guidance and recommendations to the immediate supervisor on various aspects of military personnel management, budget and management analysis Analyzing exercise and contingency plans to assist in determining required actions in support of mission requirements. Utilizing deployment plans, disaster preparedness plans, base recovery plans, contingency response plans, or other related plans. Identifying plans' deficiencies and how to develop or implement plans for increasing mission readiness. Assisting the supervisor in conducting the unit-training program in procedural activities such as, administering, planning, and organizing unit training related items. Assisting in developing and conducting training to meet mission requirements. Advising and assisting the primary trainer in executing his or her training responsibilities.
