U.S. Army Sustainment Command Ammunition Handler in Fort Dix, New Jersey

About the Position: This position is in the Ammunition Supply Point for the U.S. Army Sustainment Command. This announcement is for current, permanent Army employees that would like to be considered for a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade. Position may be made permanent without further competition. Responsibilities Check and verify documentation for the receipt, issue, live turn-in and residue turn-in of ammunition for accuracy. Store ammunition to include re-warehouse operations to increase space availability. Responsible for physical security of ammunition and work area. Update magazine data cards with inventory results in accordance with established procedures. Pack/repack ammunition with required markings and labels for serviceable excess ammunition/unserviceable and residue items being returned. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Ammunition Handler without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common ammunition handling duties. I can receive and store ammunition in accordance to regulations; issue ammunition to units; and prepare documents concerning ammunition. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: Stands, stoops, bends, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for longer periods. Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 70 pounds, and at times may handle items weighing over 70 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in generating forklift hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the forklift truck and raising, lowering, and tilting loads being moved. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both inside and outside but primarily in igloos/magazines, that are unheated, with concrete floors. Incumbent is subject to extreme caution due to the nature of items involved and must at all times adhere to fire, safety, and security regulations within assigned areas. Work requires handling hazardous materials, subject to exposure to explosive hazards and chemical fumes. Work requires wearing protective clothing such as steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, face shields, and aprons. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional Information Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 13 Months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Logistics Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
