Russell Standard Laborer in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania

Summary

The General Laborer is vital in the overall operation of the Pavement Preservation Team. General Laborers perform the tasks necessary for the day-to-day operations and application of products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Controls flow of traffic by flagging
  • Operates construction and/or power equipment for use in asphalt paving
  • Loads, hauls and unloads various equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor
  • Cleans equipment
  • Follows all safety policies and practices
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Drives company vehicle to and from job site, including interstate driving

Skills and Education

Required

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • DOT Med Card (Or ability to get one prior to start date)
  • DOT Flagger Training Certificate (Or ability to get one prior to start date)
  • Aptitude for learning new tasks and skills

     

     

     

Preferred

  • Asphalt materiel handling
  • Asphalt machinery experience

Job Requirements

  • Ability to work in a team environment with other crew members, as well as the ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Must be available for overnight travel at job sites
  • Must be able to work overtime and have a willingness to be flexible in scheduling
  • Ability to work varied shifts and long hours during peak operation times (spring, summer and fall)
  • Ability to safely lift at least 50 pounds and recognize unsafe operating conditions
  • Ability to perform work which requires frequent and regular movement of wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Ability to perform work which requires frequent and regular walking and standing
  • Ability to see, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity

Work Environment

Work sites are outdoors and may require that work be done in adverse weather conditions. This position requires its responsibilities to be performed in potentially hazardous traffic conditions. Work conditions may involve exposure to hot materials, chemicals, fumes, dust, odors, gases, and other substances used in a construction environment.
