Laborer / Motor Equipment Operator

The Village of Fairport is seeking a professional individual who possesses the following minimum qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma. Possession of a NYS Class B Commercial Drivers License or possession of a NYS Class D license and the ability to obtain a NYS Class B Commercial Drivers License within twelve (12) months of date of employment and the ability maintain the CDL throughout the term of employment.

Credible knowledge of construction techniques and methods for the construction and preventative maintenance of roads, sidewalks, sewers, and shoulder treatments; credible knowledge of basic techniques and methods for masonry, plumbing, carpentry, welding, equipment preventative maintenance and repair, cleaning and building maintenance, and landscape and tree care; skill in the use of hand and power tools; ability to operate as part of a team and project a positive attitude; ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to learn new skills quickly and efficiently; willingness to work in all weather conditions and report for emergencies; ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment; ability to follow safety procedures and recognize hazards; physical strength and stamina to perform arduous manual labor; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
