SGS North America, Inc. Manager, Microbiology in Fairfield, New Jersey

Leading departmental and/or company-wide projects designated to improve the nature of SGS client services; Assuming study director responsibilities for all routine microbiology studies as well as more advanced or specialized studies as requested by clients. Duties here include test scheduling, test preparation, proper application of test method(s), data collection, data review, and approval of the final report of analysis; Playing a lead role in departmental or company-wide projects designed to improve the internal efficiency and overall quality of work performed at the laboratory; and Monitoring the progress for the Microbiology Department, reporting any noteworthy concerns to the Microbiology Director.Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology or related field plus four (4) years of experience in any occupation with the required experience/skills. Experience must include: Four (4) years experience performing test methods equivalency study and marketed product test method suitability gap closure according to cGMP; four (4) years experience in microbiological techniques, growth promotion, Microbial Limits, Microorganism identification, Preservative Effectiveness and Media preparation; four (4) years experience coordinating testing schedules within work group; four (4) years experience in reviewing & writing Standard Operating Procedures, preparing and designing new study protocols, compiling results, providing technical reports in scientific format and making recommendations based upon research outcomes; and four (4) years experience in identifying and classifying microorganisms, studying growth, structure, development, and general characteristics of microorganisms; and isolating and maintaining cultures of microorganisms in prescribed or developed media, controlling moisture, aeration, temperature, and nutrition.
