Job Description
Arnot Health is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Registration Representative to join our team in the Emergency Department. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately registering all patients accessing our services. You will play a vital role in ensuring patient satisfaction, verifying insurance information, collecting point-of-service payments, and maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Your Schedule:
Per Diem
Rotational shifts
Weekends and holidays as needed
What You'll Do:
Perform accurate patient registration while maintaining knowledge of all registration requirements.
Distribute patient materials and obtain necessary signatures for consents, financial forms, and other required documents.
Collect and document patient payments including copays, deductibles, and coinsurance, while assisting patients with financial assistance applications as needed.
Enter orders for various services such as Observation, Laboratory, Radiology, Therapy, and Physician services.
Acquire precertification status for applicable services, ensuring compliance with policies.
Coordinate with Nursing Services to manage bed availability for inpatients, observation, and skilled care units.
Facilitate centralized scheduling for services across the System.
Verify insurance information using appropriate tools with a focus on accuracy.
Occasionally act as the primary Switchboard Operator, handling incoming calls, directing the public, and managing emergency codes.
Assist in mail distribution, inventory management, and chart retrieval as needed.
Support peer training and development as requested.
Adhere to all company policies and participate in mandatory training programs.
Maintain a patient-centered approach, ensuring a positive experience for all visitors and patients.
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of six months of experience in healthcare, finance, collections, or billing preferred.
Experience with computer applications required; medical terminology and coding knowledge are beneficial.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across various departments.
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professionalism.
Physical Requirements
Light physical activity including sitting, walking, and computer use.
Emergency room environment with patient interaction.
