    What You’ll Do: As a Float Physical Therapist, you will be responsible for planning and implementing individualized treatment programs based on the principles and practices of Physical Therapy. Your duties will include:

  • Reviewing requisitions for physical therapy, conducting patient interviews, and assessing patients’ physical conditions and needs.

  • Developing corrective exercise programs and treatment plans tailored to each patient.

  • Administering treatments such as exercise, gait training, soft tissue mobility, whirlpool, hot packs, ultrasound, paraffin, ice packs, electrical stimulation, and traction.

  • Instructing patients on the proper use of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, crutches, canes, braces, and prosthetic appliances.

  • Monitoring patient progress and recommending modifications to treatment plans as necessary.

  • Documenting evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries in compliance with professional and departmental standards.

  • Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team and communicating observations to ensure effective coordination of patient care.

  • Providing guidance and direction to staff assisting with patient care.

  • Maintaining a safe and orderly environment by following safety protocols and infection control guidelines.

  • Assisting in the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

  • Attending meetings and participating in committees as needed.

  • Assisting with patient transport to and from the PT department when necessary.

  • Taking on additional responsibilities in the absence of Senior Therapists.

  • Participating in educational programs, workshops, and other professional development opportunities.

    What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.

  • Ability to provide age-appropriate care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with patients in a friendly and caring manner.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize patient care.

  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and development.

    Education:

  • Must have a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent degree from an accredited program.

  • Must be licensed, or eligible to obtain a license, to practice physical therapy in New York State at the time of hire.

    Physical Demands:

  • Requires appreciable physical effort and occasionally repetitive movements.

  • Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds independently and up to 150 pounds with assistance.

  • May involve lifting, pushing, and pulling patients or equipment.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and moving patients may be required during treatment sessions.
