Albireo Energy, LLC Field Engineer (Entry Level) in Edison, New Jersey

Albireo Energy is looking to hire an entry level EPMS, BMS, controls or PLC engineer to join our team in the exciting, essential and expanding field of building and maintaining power monitoring systems for data centers and other critical power applications. The ideal candidate would have a strong knowledge of / interest in electrical & control systems, network troubleshooting, modbus and/or BACnet who has the ability to learn in the field, communicate and coordinate with others, write technical site visit reports, support projects and is willing and able to learn new software packages to support the design, commissioning and maintenance of critical power monitoring systems in and around New Jersey (NJ).

We are looking for candidates with a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited 4 year institution. Demonstrated field experience may substitute for education. On the job training, shadowing, etc. is available for the promising candidate.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Engineer, support and maintain electrical instrumentation applicable to critical power applications such as meters, PLCs, SERs, LV and MV breakers, UPS systems, Generators, STS, ATS, etc.

  • Engineer and update network diagrams, electrical distribution equipment, network switches, TCP/IP gateways and perform maintenance / troubleshooting on Windows servers.

  • Apply knowledge to develop necessary project documentation such as network topology, BOM, project schedule, and close-out documentation.

  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot interfaces to PLC/HMI/Power Meters/SCADA systems.

  • Configure, and implement process network infrastructure (Ethernet, Modbus, IEC61850, etc.).

  • Review and mark up update electrical schematics, onelines and wiring diagrams to support/inform the development of PLC / SCADA logic.

  • Interface and communicate with vendors, process engineering, installation contractors, and project management.

  • Hands on support for commissioning/start-up activities in critical infrastructure environments (Datacenters, hospitals, universities, skyscrapers).

  • Provide service and project support for multiple local customers, remote and in-person.

  • Provide on-call support for existing customers.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science or related field from an accredited 4 year institution. Demonstrated field experience may substitute for education.

  • Ability to learn new things quickly, such as networks (architectures, topologies, and hardware), communication protocols and how to troubleshoot field devices.

  • Strong communication skills both written (technical writing, emails, reports, etc.) and verbal (English).

  • Understands and applies safety procedures, has or is willing to obtain company sponsored OSHA10 and NFPA70E certifications

  • Experience with programming in MATLAB, Excel VBA, Python, R, and/or Java.

  • Interest / experience in Citect, PowerSCADA (PSO/PSE), PME, SQL, Ignition and/or PLC programming such as ladder logic, structured text and function block logic & code.

  • Understanding of electrical circuits and IO loops power, energy harmonics, DC and AC systems.

  • Ability to work on construction sites with a diverse group of people, and explain technical concepts to non-technical people.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

  • Must possess the ability to travel 30% domestically.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Applicants must pass a background check and drug screenings.

  • Overnight and weekend work is a requirement.

Suggested / Optional Skills:

  • Knowledge of data centers projects / construction processes.

  • Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of BAS/BMS systems.

  • Knowledge of fiber optics, fiber networks, and network redundancy.

  • Knowledge of fault tolerant and fail safe system design.

  • Power monitoring experience.

  • PLC basic programming and troubleshooting experience with Schneider, Rockwell, Allen Bradley or equivalent.

  • Experience with Utilities, Metering, and/or Networking (TCP/IP, Modbus, IEC61850 and other Industrial protocols)

  • Knowledge in Windows Server and related hardware.

  • SQL Database experience (Creating Queries, Data Manipulation).

  • Knowledge of a diverse number of electrical equipment and manufactures, (Paralleling gear, Breakers, UPS's, Meters, PDU's, BCM's etc.)

Pay Rate: $31-$36/hr. DOE.
