Position:       2024 Farm and Trials Crew – Seasonal Interns or Gardeners – 4 openings

Location:        Fordhook Farm, Doylestown, PA

Schedule:        May through August - 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday with rotating weekend shifts

As a Farm and Trials Crew member at Fordhook Farm, you'll play a key role in the maintenance and preservation of our historical estate and research farm. This is an onsite position, and we are seeking individuals with a passion for gardening and a desire to be part of a dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute day to day farm operations.

  • Greenhouse duties: seeding, watering, plant care.

  • Field and garden work: weeding, pruning, plasticulture, row cover, transplanting, harvesting

  • Irrigation installation, maintenance, removal

  • Support as needed with our research trials by assisting with planting, watering, harvesting, data collection, recording, labeling, and database maintenance.

  • Harvesting produce

  • Maintain equipment, tools and spaces to be functional

  • Follow all safety protocols

  • Collaborate with the Video and Photography team for catalog and web advertising needs.

  • Participate in special events and tours, including Open Days, Press Days, and companywide events.

    Willing to work in all weather conditions

    Candidate Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.

  • Able to operate equipment safely, training will be provided

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Able to work independently, in a team, and lead farm tasks

  • Able to adapt to repetitive tasks & the demanding changes of the farm

  • Able to lift 50 lbs., and be on feet for 8 hours a day

  • Willing to engage with a dynamic learning environment and contribute to Burpee seed innovations.

  • Prior experience and/or plant/weed ID skills are a PLUS!
