Description:

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, a member of Trinity Health, is looking for a Full Time Shift Supervisor to join our team!

Schedule: Full Time, Rotating Shift

Provides emergency patient care on an Advanced Life Support (ALS) level to those in need to decrease the loss of life and ease pain and suffering to the people in their time of crisis.

Job Duties:

EMS Shift Supervisor at the direction of the Director/Chief or designee, is responsible for the daily operations of their assigned platoon. Those daily functions include but not limited to perform as a paramedic as part of the crew, daily schedule, oversee the platoons general upkeep on all apparatus in station(s), station(s) duties, paperwork completion, functions as the operational officer in the absence of higher-ranking officer and perform related duties as assigned by the Director/Chief or designee.

Assists the Director with the management of the operations of the department.

  1. Supervises the day-to-day operational activities of all EMS staff.

  2. Completes necessary paperwork in respect to overtime, vacation requests, and sick leave.Maintain appropriate quality control mechanisms.

3.Participates as a member of the quality assurance programs in conjunction with the Medical Director and Director of EMS.

  1. Ensures that the department maintains quality improvement programs.

  2. Assists the Director with interviews and the selection of new personnel.

  3. Participates in public awareness and educational activities.

  4. Ensures that all department personnel present in a clean, neat, and well-groomed manner 100% of the time.

  5. Projects an image of professionalism in appearance and conduct.

  6. Ensures that all personnel complete daily paperwork.

  7. Ensures that all departmental personnel attend work in the proper uniform.

  8. Ensures that all vehicles receive preventative maintenance by-monthly.

  9. Ensures that medical supplies are replenished in vehicles and supply areas.

  10. Ensures that all communication equipment is functioning properly.

  11. Ensures the work schedule is complete and replaces staff in the event of sick outs and vacation requests.

  12. Participates in the investigation and follow-up of service inquiries, incident reports, accidents, injuries and other reports.

  13. Keeps Director advised of all operational activities going on within the department.

  14. Reports unusual incidents to the Director.

  15. Additional assignments may include safety management, monthly reports, and completion of calendar of activities.

  16. Performs all job functions in accordance with established corporate and department goals, policies and practices.

  17. Assists with the coordination of all State and County EHS policies and assures that each paramedic and EMT’s performs according to the set standing protocols.

Requirements:​

  • High School Diploma.

  • Graduate of a PA approved EMT Training Program Graduate of a PA approved Paramedic Training Program

  • Valid driver's license in good standing.

  • Current PA EMT-paramedic certification.

  • Current CPR (BCLS) training.

  • Current ACLS certification

  • Current PALS certification

  • One year experience as a paramedic preferred

  • Minium of three years' experience as a paramedic.

  • Supervisory experience preferred but not required.
