The Global Radiation Protection Specialist is responsible to support radiation protection with five Business Units, Global Operating Services (GOS) and Corporate Center. The role works, with guidance from the Manager, with the facility EHS professionals and cross-functional Site Leadership teams at the 50+ Westinghouse facilities in 19 countries and 5 continents.
The primary responsibilities of this position are (i) to assist in the development and maintenance of Westinghouse's global radiation protection programs, standards, training and tools to ensure rigorous compliance to global expectations, (ii) provide execution support and training to ensure sites are compliant with global radiation protection regulations and laws, (iii) drive a culture of continuous improvement with regards to radiation protection, (iv) provide leadership, oversight, and guidance to the Business Units and GOS on how to incorporate radiation protection requirements and (v) provide technical support to the Business Units and GOS. In addition, this role will work with global regulatory agencies.
Your Day to Day: Partner with key stakeholders at various levels in the businesses, ensuring compliance with local, state, federal radiation protection regulations. Generate, analyze, trend and report common metrics for radiological safety (e.g. radiological dose, contamination events, etc.) Assists the Manager, Global Radiation Protection, in the development and planning of radiation protection programs globally across Westinghouse. Oversee, maintain and improve radiation protection procedures to ensure they are understood by all, reflecting the industry best practices, meet regulatory requirements while promoting a Safety Conscious Work Environment (SCWE) and a strong Nuclear Safety Culture. Assists in the Radiation Protection Audit processes at all locations to assess compliance to regulatory programs, identify deficiencies, work with the BU's/GOS to proactively address gaps and identify action plans to preclude external agency audit findings or investigations. Assess program risks and organizational talent management for radiological protection and safety. Provide program leadership and technical expertise to operations in the area of radiological protection, occupational and public dose control and monitoring. Support the BU's and sites when faced with radiological protection challenges including lack of radiological leadership. Lead and drive conformance with global radiological safety practices, compliance with operating license and jurisdictional legal requirements
Who You Are: Bachelor's degree in Health Physics or Radiological Engineering 4+ years of experience in radiation protection and health physics. CHP or NRRPT helpful
