Product Trainer/Instructional Designer III

Summary:

Designs/develops product training and performance support solutions. Delivers product training to internal and external customers. Supports Universal's eLearning platform and web module development.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Designs and/or assists with the design of Universal product training courses and/or product support solutions, in accordance with UIC course design standards.

  • Participates in product development processes, product support planning and defines training deliverables.

  • Champions ease-of-use and systemic product design/support solutions where practical opportunities exist.

  • Keeps abreast of product changes and continually improves knowledge/skills as necessary to maintain expertise in all assigned products/courses.

  • Maintains Universal Product Trainer Certifications for each assigned course.

  • Develops assigned course materials to ensure training effectiveness and communicates design change.

  • Delivers product training courses to internal and external customers with a focus on hands-on student performance of course objectives.

  • Monitors student satisfaction through review of student survey data and verbal feedback.

  • Communicates significant issues to the appropriate department and personnel.

  • Independently maintains and/or assists with maintenance of classroom, lab, and equipment to ensure that all are in working order to fully support delivery of training.

  • Designs and develops engaging content for asynchronous training, with input from leadership, product trainers, customers, and subject matter experts.

  • Supports eLearning team members with design and development of effective instructional web modules.

  • Manages the end-to-end development cycle from supporting defined learning objectives to deploying the final eLearning module on an LMS.

  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, or technical field.

  • 4-7 years of demonstrated technical training and experience in Instructional Design/Development.

  • Detail oriented, independent performer, with a passion for customer service excellence.

  • Able to analyze complex technical information and identify and document the underlying concepts, which can be used to facilitate learning.

  • Familiarity with authoring software such as Storyline 360.

  • Understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS).

    Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality:

  • Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.

    Physical Demands:

  • Requires the ability to use a computer on a frequent basis.

  • Position requires the ability to understand and interpret detailed documents and drawings.

  • Requires the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and in giving presentations.

  • The ability to travel to customer sites or technical conferences may occasionally be required.

    Target Annual Base Pay: $80,000 - $90,000 + Robust Benefits
