Description:

The Loan Application Review Specialist is responsible for the successful regulatory oversight of loan applications that do not result in origination. The Loan Application Review Specialist's key responsibilities include the following:

    • Review and ensure compliance of all denied and withdrawn loan applications with regulatory guidelines.
    • Process and review all Adverse Action Notices sent to customers.
    • Review and process Home Mortgage Disclosure Act reportable applications.
    • Advise lenders and provide guidance in the adverse action and application withdrawal processes.

FOCUSES ON ACCURACY AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL

Reviews and ensures compliance of all denied and withdrawn loan applications. Possesses a strong ability to comprehend, implement and communicate regulatory guidelines. Processes and reviews all Adverse Action Notices sent to customers to ensure accuracy and compliance standards. Reviews and processes Home Mortgage Disclosure Act reportable applications. Implements procedures to supervise and report findings of errors or trends actively in the process.

Possesses and displays a positive demeanor in managing change; working and communicating with others; and adhering to policies, procedures, and customer service standards. Works in tandem with lenders on an individual basis and in group settings to share expertise and mentor for improvement. Collaborates with others in developing efficiencies in the denied and withdrawn application process. Assists with training on the application procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to perform each crucial job requirement satisfactorily and a skills inventory is listed below. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required, with related experience and secondary education preferred. A criminal background check will be conducted. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents. Possesses professional communication and interpersonal skills to write and speak effectively both one-on-one and before groups of clients or employees of the organization. TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Ability to use telephone systems and possess good digital literacy including email, internet and intranet use. Prior experience or the ability to learn core transaction system, debit card system, statement processing system, cash advance machines and any other computer programs pertinent to performing job duties.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute r te, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve exciting problems involving several variables in a standardized situation.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform what is asked of you. This position operates in a professional office environment with considerable time spent at a desk using office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. Noise level is moderate with constant communication and interactions with others, Ability to travel on occasion to all market areas and attend seminars or training sessions offsite.
