Process Metallurgist:

My client is a leading investment casting foundry specializing in precision-engineered metal components for [industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical, and industrial applications]. Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Process Metallurgist to join our team. This individual will play a key role in optimizing metallurgical processes, ensuring quality standards, and driving continuous improvements in our investment casting operations. The Process Metallurgist will collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to enhance material performance, reduce defects, and improve overall process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize, and monitor metallurgical processes for investment casting operations.

  • Investigate and resolve metallurgical issues, including casting defects, material inconsistencies, and heat treatment variations.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve yield and reduce scrap rates.

  • Support new product development and material selection, ensuring metallurgical integrity and compliance with customer specifications.

  • Establish and refine process parameters for melting, pouring, solidification, and heat treatment to enhance casting quality.

  • Work closely with quality and manufacturing teams to ensure adherence to industry standards (ASTM, AMS, NADCAP, ISO, etc.).

  • Lead process improvement initiatives using Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other problem-solving methodologies.

  • Perform metallurgical testing, failure analysis, and microstructural evaluations to support production and R&D activities.

  • Maintain knowledge of emerging metallurgical technologies and industry best practices to enhance foundry capabilities.

  • Assist in customer and supplier interactions, providing technical support for metallurgical and quality-related inquiries.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in a metallurgical role, preferably in an investment casting foundry or metal manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of alloy behavior, heat treatment, and casting processes.

  • Experience with metallurgical testing methods, including SEM, EDS, microhardness testing, and optical microscopy.

  • Proficiency in process improvement techniques (Six Sigma, Lean, SPC).

  • Familiarity with industry specifications and quality systems (NADCAP, AS9100, ISO 9001).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionallySalary range:$90-$110k depending on experience with a full benefit package including health, life, dental and vision insurance with a 401K match and a quarterly bonus.

Pay Details: $90,000.00 to $110,000.00 per year
