Roe's Orchards Agriculture Equipement Operator in Chester, New York

3 Fulltime H-2A Seasonal Jobs available 3/15/2025- 11/15/2025.

Operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer's fields and/or transport workers to the grocery store, or bank on an as-needed basis. Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities. Not all workers are requested to drive; drivers will be required to possess a valid operators license. No one will be rejected for the position that does not possess a class D license.

Manually plant, cultivate, & harvest vegetables & fruits such as; apples, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, sweet corn & squash. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, & knives. May operate farm machinery. Duties include tilling soil & applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops. Construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings. Harvest fruits & vegetables by hand. A minimum productivity standard applies; 100 bu boxes of fresh market apples per day. All fruit to be handled with care to avoid bruising. Fruit injured by bruising, not to exceed 4%. Must be physically able to lift up to 75lbs on a consistent basis throughout the day. Due to safety concerns on a farm, workers must understand basic instructions in English. Workers referred as a result of this order must have a minimum of three months verifiable experience in performing the tasks described in this order.

Requirements:

  • Must have three months of verifiable experience in performing the tasks described in this order.
  • Lifting requirement of 75 lbs. on a consistent basis throughout the day.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Repetitive movements and frequent stooping/bending over.
