Overview

The Product Merchandiser (PM) is an integral member of the Product Release Group (PRG), which is responsible for curating Edmund Optics' (EO's) product content information. The PM ensures EO's products are effectively presented across new and existing marketing channels to determine best product positioning, with an emphasis on the EO's website, print catalogs and other marketplaces. The format and style of information presented is to be continuously tested to improve performance. The duties of the PM are extensive, detailed, and cross functional, and require the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. The goal of the PM is to produce the most compelling customer experience in choosing and buying from the EO Marketplace through phone, email, website, or other methods. The PM interprets analytics critical to trend identification and cultivates new business via product merchandising tests in all channels for all EO core business lines. Therefore, this position requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational adaptability, and time-management skills. The PM works closely with the E-Commerce Merchandiser and other team members to maintain and quality-control all product and test data for accuracy, grammar, and completeness, including coordination of translations with international offices.

Responsibilities

    Work with analysts and product leads to collect, research, organize, and deliver new or improved relevant product content within pre-determined timeline
  • Establish workflow and approval processes to improve customer experience and product presentations utilizing feedback from MPG sales teams
  • Continually test omni-channel product presentations to improve sales performance
  • Propose, plan, and implement product tests using inventory availability, lead time, branding market placement and promotions
  • Assist in website product maintenance and product documentation coordination
  • Create and manage product video content
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a willingness to call customers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, WebAdmin (internal)
  • Experience in copywriting and editing required; experience in technical writing a plus
  • Experience in Project Management or Traffic Coordination
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform detail-oriented work
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of digital and non-digital marketing techniques and platforms
  • Willingness to work with others across departments and show strong team spirit
  • Able to manage heavy workload of multiple, concurrent projects and priorities
  • Basic product and technology knowledge

Required Education/Experience:

BA/BS in English, marketing, business, or equivalent work experience required

Experience in the field of photonics or related technical discipline

Physical Requirements:

Ability to operate office equipment such as a copier; ability to see details at a close range; ability to sit at desk or PC for long periods of time; work in office setting.
