Bohler Engineering Civil Engineering Manager, Technical Operations in Chalfont, Pennsylvania

Our Chalfont, PA office is looking for a Engineering Manager, Technical Operations who embodies this purpose.

Responsibilities

Technical

  • Oversees and validates plans, design reports, technical papers, and other documentation asrequired, e.g., entitlement plans, improvement documents and drainage designs.

  • Identifies elements of project design likely to give rise to disputes, claims or construction issues.

  • Establishes risk mitigation strategy, based on design factors, with input from all internal stake holders. • Ensures project compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and company standards.

  • Provides high-level strategizing for unique design projects.

  • Management of the QC process for all projects and provides oversight of QC for engineering work.

  • Will reference all aspects of due diligence, design, permitting and investigation of projects when proposing solutions or advice on direction of projects.

  • Ensures accuracy and correctness of all written work: exhibits, schedules, correspondence, reports, technical drawings.

  • Will clearly define functional challenges, identify appropriate options, and then make recommendations for the most viable option(s) for solution.

  • Practices and enforces “standard of care.” Adheres to ethics of professional practice and encourages the same among team.

  • Other duties as assigned

    Staff Training and Development

  • Manages the delivery of Technical Training Programs with measurable goals and objectives. Can develop and support the ROI associated with each program and build the appropriate metrics to measure output and impact.

  • Can relay business objectives of training needs for Organization Training & Development to appropriately design and deliver content designed to meet organizational development needs.

  • Collaborate with the Organization Training & Development team and HRBP to create a reliable and comprehensive training program across the region.

  • Deliver training programs for staff on items such as high-level stormwater management compliance, grading and utility design process, risk management strategies, and HydroCAD modeling.

  • Assist staff with achieving technical proficiency goals.

  • Identifies and quantifies specific actions to improve technical proficiencies, efficiency of process, workflow, and quality, both individually and collectively.

  • Ensures that staff members participate in developing quality and efficiency initiatives, providing opportunities for open/honest feedback.

  • Instructs staff on effective time management when performing design work.

  • Establishes and maintains professional and personal relationships with staff that fosters loyalty, trust, and teamwork to induce and inspire professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Masters’ Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering fields

  • PE (or licensed professional in related fields) preferred

  • 10+ years of residential and/or commercial/industrial site design and jurisdictional permitting experience with 2+ years in a staff management capacity preferred

  • Experience in civil/site design including:

  • concept site layout

  • subdivision design

  • zoning research and analysis

  • extensive knowledge of site grading

  • storm water management design

  • utility design

  • regulatory permitting experience

  • project management capabilities

  • Experience with making presentations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and planning skills
